Thanksgiving Day Protest For Turkeys

Date:Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2000
Time: 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Where: White House Sidewalk
On Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2000, there will be a peaceful one hour made-for-media protest starting at 10:00 AM on the White House sidewalk. During this peaceful protest, a 20' tall, 25' long "turkey" (constructed by Canadian artist Brandon Leudke) will symbolically have her throat cut, depicting the pain and suffering inherent in America's traditional Thanksgiving feast. Vegetarian refreshments will be served to the members of the press and public attending this peaceful protest.

Karen Davis, director of United Poultry Concerns, and other prominent leaders in the animal rights movement will make brief statements and be available to the media in a short press conference following the protest.
