Dear Mr. Shepherd:

I am writing to you respectfully on behalf of United Poultry Concerns to urge you to prosecute Cassius Mankin for felony animal abuse for putting out the eyes of the emu named Miss Molly and strangling her to death at a party on February 14, 2015. I was told by your office yesterday in response to my phone call that this case is pending.

It is important that law enforcement take this act of animal cruelty seriously. If your investigation confirms that Cassius Mankin punched out the eyes of Miss Molly and strangled her to death as he is accused of doing on February 14, he deserves the severest punishment that the law allows. He also needs psychological treatment, but clinical treatment and counselling should not be a substitute for the legal penalty he deserves to receive.

Cassius Mankin put out the eyes of a helpless, unoffending creature, according to police. This is an act of the most extreme sadistic cruelty, and strangulation also is an especially personal form of vicious cruelty and hatred toward another.

Cassius Mankin and several other individuals allegedly stole Miss Molly from the home of Bob and Carol Falk, who have publicly expressed their heartbreak over the death of Miss Molly and the way she died. The Falk family deserves legal justice for the torture and killing of their innocent pet emu.

Sadistic killing should never be treated by law enforcement as a “prank.” People need to know that breaking a law of this magnitude has legal consequences and that the community, via its law enforcement representatives, will bring justice. Teenagers and children need to understand the difference between a “prank” and an act of deliberate cruelty.

Please prosecute Cassius Mankin for felony animal abuse for his crime of putting out the eyes of Miss Molly the emu and strangling her to death.

Thank you for your attention. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of help to you. I look forward to your decision in this case.

Sincerely,
