Easy Public Comment Info for
National Fire Protection Association

Dear Friends,

The NFPA website process for submitting public comments through their website, urging them to amend their 150 Standard for Fire & Life Safety in Animal Housing Facilities to require sprinklers and smoke control systems for Category B animals (confined farmed animals), is hard to follow. Because your public comment is VERY IMPORTANT, we ask that you please submit your comment as follows by email, snail mail or fax:

Dawn Bellis, Secretary
Standards Council
National Fire Protection Association
1 Batterymarch Park
Quincy, MA 02169
Email: DBellis@NFPA.org
Fax: 617-770-0700
Tel: 617-770-3000

Ms. Bellis assured United Poultry Concerns that submitting public comments directly to her is perfectly fine, so please do so. That is how we did it.

Submission Deadlines: Closing date for paper submittals (snail mail or fax) is Friday April 11, 2014. Closing date for online submittals is Friday May 16, 2014.

A thoughtful, polite one-page letter should include the date, your full name, postal service mailing address, email address and daytime phone number.

Thank you for taking the time to write to the National Fire Protection Association on behalf of millions of chickens, turkeys, pigs, cows and other animals who suffer and die horribly in the United States each year as a result of being unprotected from fires in buildings they cannot escape from. Please write to the NFPA urging them to require fire protection systems for Category B animals. No animal should ever be forced to die helplessly in a preventable fire.

Thank you for speaking out on behalf of farmed animals. Please sign our:
Change.org Petition to the NFPA.
