Urge Glens Falls Wing Fest to Drop the Dead Wings

The Coalition of Animal Rights Enthusiasts has been trying to get the Glens Falls Collaborative to cancel the annual Wing Fest in Glens Falls, New York. United Poultry Concerns supports this goal. Today, there are more and more Vegan Fests popping up every year that attract thousands of attendees at a fun and healthy event.

The Post Star writes about the issue in this article: Animal rights group calls to end Wing Fest

On March 22, Matthew Collins from the Coalition of Animal Rights Enthusiasts wrote an open letter-to-the-editor asking organizers of the festival, Glens Falls Collaborative, calling for the complete cancellation of the annual event.

In the article, Nancy Turner, the president of the collaborative, says they have tried to meet the coalition halfway and have been bringing out more diversified meal offerings for the last few years. One of the awards given out during the festival is even the “Best Non-Meat Wing” award. This award was created by the coalition, Collins said.

The animal rights coalition sees the issue as a moral one that cannot be negotiated.

“I know it’s small, just a canceled fest, but if we could take a moral stand, that would make the news. That would make an impact in our world to spread love and reduce suffering,” Collins said.

What Can I Do?

Please politely email Nancy Turner, president of the Glens Falls Collaborative, at ourglensfalls@gmail.com and urge her to stop celebrating dead wings. Encourage her to turn the event into something that is truly collaborative and positive for our earth and all it's inhabitants.

Thank you!

Dear Ms. Nancy Turner,

As president of the Glens Falls Collaborative, I am urging you to stop celebrating dead wings and the inescapable cruelty of factory farming at your Wing Fest on April 27, 2024.

There are dozens of undercover videos on YouTube that show the absolutely barbaric conditions that billions of chickens suffer in factory farms, from birth to inhumane shipping, to a horrific death for each individual chicken. I pray that you will find and view them.

Why not turn the festival into something that everyone can embrace and be proud of? I suggest a non-profit community festival that includes local human assistance agencies, animal advocacy, protection and rescue groups and organizations that help wildlife and the environment. Everyone wins!

You could fashion it around your similar 7th Annual Pet Fest on May 19th, 2024. Thank you for doing this event yearly as well. I suggest that you reach out to local faith leaders to add an interfaith blessing of the animals event to the pet fest.

I am more than willing to help you locate the videos or in any other way that I can. Feel free to contact me.

Cruelty and suffering are unethical, wrong and should be avoided at all times, no matter the species.

Sincerely,

Rev. David Sickles
