Homes Needed after Pure Prairie Poultry Abandons Thousands of Chickens
On Oct. 9, the Minnesota-based Pure Prairie Poultry closed its processing plant in Charles City, Iowa and stopped paying for feed for the birds.
Wisconsin farms are giving away tens of thousands of chickens raised for meat through posts on Facebook to slaughter themselves. The farms have already run out of food, so the birds are going hungry, and some may eventually starve to death at this rate. If you are in Wisconsin area and are able to provide a good home for these birds, you might be able to convince the farm to just turn over the birds.
