"Chicken Soup" Book Authors Need to Hear From Us

Best-selling authors, Dr. Marty Becker, Carol Kline and Amy D. Shojai are inviting people to submit stories for their latest volumes scheduled for release in autumn of 2005. They say "Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul" and "Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul" will include heartwarming true stories about dogs and cats and the people who love them.

What Can I Do?

Please send the authors a heartwarming story about chickens, as in: "What is it about chickens that makes me love them?" For submission guidelines by snailmail send a SASE to CS/Dog (or Cat) Lover's Soul, PO Box 1262, Fairfield, IA 52556. (Guidelines or not, send them your story.)

Kindly inform the authors that CHICKEN SOUP IS NOT HEARTWARMING. CHICKEN SOUP COMES FROM HELL. Chickens are locked in concentration camps, starved, debeaked, transported without food or water, and brutally murdered. They're infected with viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Many go to slaughter with cancer, respiratory diseases, and oozing sores: that's "chicken soup." MISERY IS NOT A SOUL FOOD.

Urge the authors (politely but firmly) to retire the "chicken soup for the soul" genre. Send them a beautiful story about chickens and, if possible, a delicious vegan soup recipe. If you don't have a story of your own, please visit http://www.upc-online.org/stories/index.html and print out one of our stories or poems and send it to the authors with a short cover letter. Our cookbook Instead of Chicken, Instead of Turkey has wonderful soups and you can also go to www.vegrecipes.org for great soup recipes! Thank You!
