Classroom Chicken Slaughter Should be Dropped, Otherwise Videotaped So Public Can See What is Being Taught

The Rochester (New York) Democrat and Chronicle has a story today by James Goodman, “Canandaigua school reconsiders ending chicken slaughter in class.” Comments may be given and comments raising the ethical bar are needed.

CANANDAIGUA – Officials at Canandaigua Academy are reconsidering a recent decision not to slaughter chickens next school year in an ecology class taught at the high school. . . . “We find ways to teach about situations that involve destructive behavior and killing other than re-enactment in the classroom,” said Karen Davis, president of United Poultry Concerns.” To read the story and provide comment, click on:
