Helpful Info for Helping Stray, Injured, or Orphaned Pigeons or Doves
Found a Stray, Injured, or Orphaned Pigeon or Dove
Please pick up/catch the bird if you can. (The bird won't hurt you and you won't hurt the bird as much as the hungry predators will.) Confine the bird safely indoors in a box or pet carrier and join our Palomacy Facebook Group where you can post your photos, location and situation to crowdsource some support and assistance.
If you are located in the San Francisco Bay Area, contact WildCare in San Rafael, Peninsula Humane Society in Burlingame or Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley in San Jose or your nearest municipal (open door) shelter. For help outside of Northern California, contact the pigeon and dove friendly rescues on this map.

If you're out of the area, please network to find local birds in need of rescue. They are everywhere but you may have to call around to wildlife rehabbers to find them. You can also find birds needing rescue with our map and by joining our Palomacy Facebook Group.)
Have Birds You Need to Rehome
We are full and running a waiting list. We don't have a shelter or sanctuary; all of our birds are cared for in the homes and aviaries of our volunteers and partners. Click here for rehoming tips.
