The Beauty and Sentience of Chickens and Turkeys

By Karen Davis, PhD, President of United Poultry Concerns

The poultry industry does not want the public to empathize with birds raised for food. To that end, industry propagates a false image of chickens and turkeys as radically inferior to their wild counterparts and to “pets.” I will show who chickens and turkeys bred for the poultry and egg industry really are, based on my personal experience with these birds for 37 years going back to when I met a little hen named Viva who changed my life.
