| On October 2, 2003, United Poultry
Concerns activists Karen Davis, Lisa and Bruce Glassco, and Joe
Donahue staffed a successful animal rights vegetarian table with
lots of food and literature at the Eastern Shore Community College
in Melfa, Virginia. We microwaved soy “chicken nuggets”
and gave out chickpea-macaroni salad, pasta salad, coleslaw, and
other treats to students and teachers, along with free copies of
Vegetarian Times, Why Vegan, UPC literature, and more!
Our battery hen display attracted lots of attention, as did the
UPC video “The Dignity, Beauty, and Abuse of Chickens.”
It was a great day!
