“2000: Year of the Humane Child”

2000: Year of the Humane Child

This comprehensive public outreach program was launched at a press conference in Los Angeles on December 2nd. A major goal is to educate parents and educators about the importance of teaching children to respect and protect animals as well as how to spot signs of animal abuse. It emphasizes the link between compassion for animals and compassion for humans and the proven link between childhood animal abuse and adult human violence. It asks "What are we Teaching Our Children?" The Action Alerts below urge you to get involved in what the Boy Scouts of America are teaching and the kinds of lessons young people are learning in the classroom. For more information contact the Doris Day Animal League at 202-546-1761.
