Dear Friends of UPC,
Thank you for your kind and much needed support for our many efforts to promote the compassionate and respectful treatment of chickens and other domestic fowl. We are very grateful.
However, as summer advances, and people are busy with vacations and other activities, donations have dwindled. Meanwhile, our work proceeds and our expenditures grow. May we count on you for a generous donation to support our work at this time?
In the past three months, UPC has created beautiful new handouts, brochures, posters and mailing stickers. They include “Jane – one tiny chicken foot,” “Viva, the Chicken Hen/How Chickens are Raised for Meat,” “Bird Flu-What You Need to Know,” our revised & updated “Chickens” Brochure, and – now at the printers – our long-awaited brochure, “A Wing & A Prayer,” urging protest of the annual kapparot “chicken-swinging” ritual in September – plus our new mailing stickers, “What Wings are For.” Plus two new International Respect for Chickens Day posters!
All of this gorgeous new advocacy literature – and more – will be on display at our exhibit tables at the upcoming conferences in Los Angeles, Pennsylvania, and Washington DC in just 2 weeks! For information, visit www.upc-online.org/alerts/62607summerconf.html.
In the fall, UPC must pay for substantial sanctuary repairs. Much of the fencing and other sanctuary structures, installed in 1998, when we moved our headquarters & chicken sanctuary to Machipongo, VA, need replaced & fixed at an estimated cost of $4000 to $5000 in all.
Dear friends, we urgently – dare I say DESPERATELY? – need your financial support at this time. The Summer-Fall issue of our quarterly magazine Poultry Press goes to the printer this week, and we are planning our Fall activities. Please help us. Thank you very much.
