UPC President Karen Davis will speak at this fun-filled food-filled event (Karen’s speaking time is 2:45 pm – 3:30 pm). In “Talking Turkey: Is Factory Farming the Only Problem?” she will discuss farmed animals, factory farming, and family farming past and present, and whether animal products such as “free-range” eggs are animal-friendly. UPC will have an exhibit table with free literature and books for sale & signing including Karen Davis’s celebrated cookbook Instead of Chicken, Instead of Turkey: A Poultryless “Poultry” Potpourri.
Vegfest 2004 is sponsored by the Vegetarian Society of Washington DC. It includes a range of presentations on the powerful and empowering benefits of vegetarianism as they relate to personal and public health, peacemaking environmental sustainability, the end of abuse and exploitation of animals, and the alleviation of global hunger.
