On Sunday, May 6, volunteers with Niagara Action for Animals (www.niagaraactionforanimals.org)
in St. Catharines, Ontario rescued 130 “spent” hens from a local egg farmer who advertised their availability to area residents. The
hens have all been placed in loving homes and sanctuaries!
United Poultry Concerns thanks NAfA very much for linking their rescue with International Respect for Chickens Day and for holding their annual
Party for the Paws (and Claws!) on May 4 with signs on their buffet table for International Respect for Chickens Day including our signature poster
“What Wings are For.” Normally NAfA’s event is in August, but they moved it up to May 4 especially to celebrate chickens and
their rescue of the precious hens.
