Dear Mr. Branson:
Please advise me of the status of your investigation and prosecution of The University of Kansas Beta Theta Pi fraternity members who intentionally
abused and killed a turkey on December 14, 2012, at the fraternity house, during a fraternity party. What is your decision regarding this
animal-cruelty case? We expect your Office to uphold the Kansas Cruelty to Animals Statute 21-4310 to the fullest extent of the law. If any case
fits the definition of intentional cruelty to animals, including intentional torture and killing for pleasure, under the state law, this case does.
Please tell me your Office’s decision regarding prosecution of these offenders under the Kansas Cruelty to Animals Statute.
Thank you for your attention. We await your reply.
Sincerely,
Karen Davis, PhD, President
